IT-Analysis.com was designed as an IT portal to give a voice to the independent IT community particularly, but with other end-user functions. To that end, the content management system was custom written by electronicdawn to have the possibility of numerous account types (analyst, PR agency, vendor, end user etc.) with a variety of content types such as articles, blogs, news releases and events. These roles have different permissions, governing what the role type has access to, as well as support functions such as statistics, feedback loops etc.
The readers of the site have multiple ways to interact and consume, including the ability to comment, sign up for RSS feeds supplying just the information they want and newsletters. The site is split into a number of main domains and sub domains, allowing the reader to navigate directly to the content that interests them, and maybe signing up for domain-specific or writer-specific feeds.
After this design was finalised and implemented, IT-Director.com (their sister site) was rolled out and carries some of the same functionality but with an added role type of Contributor—allowing a broader range of content from by-lined authors working as independent writers, or for consultancies, vendors’ marketing departments etc. This allows the site to be targeted towards senior management personnel (including those on the Board) who are in charge of running their businesses as well as having a broader appeal to end users.
ElectronicDawn maintain a close working relationship with IT Analysis Communications and assist in the day-to-day running of both sites.
